Digital Camera study findings

Here are some interesting stats gathered by InfoTrends where they presented their analysis of the digital camera market and user during the Digital Imaging conference held this week.
- The average digital camera price is projected to slip from $298 in 2006 to $191 in 2011 in North America. So expect sales to be up
- Projected sales of digital cameras would peak in 2007 or 2008
- Sales is due to the fact, people thinks that digital cameras are becoming a personal item rather than a family item.
- The average number of cameras per household in the U.S. rose from 1.4 last year to 1.5 this year
- Some 50 billion photos will be taken by digital camera this year and expected 60 billion in 2011.
- There will be more repeat buyers for digital camera. This year it was about 73 percent were repeat buyers, and expected 97 percent in 2011
- Single people takes about 415 photos per year. Married couple or living together with no children shoots about 514 photos per year while those with children 668 photos a year on average.
- People buy digital camera mainly due to camera’s megapixel count and its price, there’s a certain correlation to that, however other factors such as longer zoom range, face detection, and larger LCD also plays a part
