Posted September 17th, 2007
TOKYO - Japan’s Fujifilm Holdings Corp is restructuring it’s production and implementing cost cutting measure as it announced this week that it’s moving Fujifilm remaining digital camera production to China. A number of unspecified jobs will be cut too. Fujifilm would also outsource the production of its charge coupled devices (CCDs) to Toshiba Corp A subsidiary of Fujifilm would also be dissolve and the land owned will be sold to Murata Manufacturing Co. This is not the first restructuring as last year too there was a major reshuffle as Fujifilm cut some 5,000 jobs or around 6-7 percent of it’s global workforce. Such measures was needed as Fujifilm struggled to keep up with the price war with rival digital firm such as Canon Inc Fujifilm is the world’s seventh-largest digital camera maker in 2006 and has sold 6.6 million digital cameras in the past business year.
