The Right SLR Camera Needs the Right Photographer

Posted February 4th, 2009

I often receive the same question from people, asking me for the best digital SLR camera. I give them the same answer each time.

If you want the best digital SLR camera, choose the model that will let you take the photos you need.

Any SLR camera you might choose these days will take very good photos.

Picking the best model when you take a look at a number of different SLR cameras is not as simple as it sounds. In many ways these cameras are all the same, but they do have some elements that are different, which can be used to make a choice. For example, you can use the size of the camera as an element, the number of megapixels or the optical zoom, or a combination of these elements. Choosing a digital SLR camera depends a bit on the features that it offers and the rest on what you need the camera to do for you.

Find Your Inner Photographer

First, try doing a self-assessment. While this isn’t something that will help you find your true calling or to quit smoking, it should be useful if you want to choose a digital SLR camera.

What do you like taking photos of? Is the questions you need to ask yourself.

If it makes it easier for you, it can be compared with finding out what your zodiac sign is. If you know which photographic sign is yours, finding a digital SLR is much easier.

Below we present a few photographic styles that might apply to what you need to do. Is one of these styles more appealing to you?

Styles of photography

Sports and action

While you probably don’t consider yourself an action photographer, if you take photos of pets and kids on a regular basis then you are. Since they move fast and you can’t keep them in one place to take their photo, this type of photography is what you have to do in many cases.

Portraits

If you like taking photos of people’s faces, than portraits is what you want to do. In many cases, you prefer taking pictures of local people rather than of the nature. You enjoy how expressive people’s eyes are and how the human face can change.

Landscapes

Landscape photography is totally different from taking photos of people. When you take photos of people, you interact with them a lot, but with nature photography you enjoy solitude and taking in the view much more.

Getting the perfect SLR camera, is never an easy thing, especially with the way digital technology is constantly changing. Fortunately, there are plenty of helpful websites online, that can narrow down your search and help you find the DSLR camera with all the features important to you.
