Posted November 1st, 2009
Now that you have a website, you want to jazz it up, making it so attractive to keep your readers addicted. You don’t want a totally animated site, which can burst your budget, and, on the other hand slow your crawl around the web, anyway. You just want to keep things simple, by adding a unique gallery. Tangled in the world wide web are lots of ways to show your photos. But, you want more, and with far more creativity. You’ want the ideal way to display images like photographs to break up the monotony of all that text, plus codes. You want to display lots, maybe thousands of photographs in the neatest possible way, but in style, or maybe you just need to enhance your online tutorials with creativity to your images. Free from too much HTML code, free from passwords, and other elements that can be ooooh so tedious, they get annoying. BUT you’ve got major problems - such as, no space. One main challenge you share with others, is that your host has limited you to just enough space to let people know you are online. Its certainly no time to panic especially if you are a visual person. You understand the dynamics that most people around the word understand better through images, and so does online developers. Of the several ways you can find to upload your albums, or videos, Cincopa is helpful with arranging your online galleries in a creative way, especially for low-budgeted individuals! The first step recommended is to install the Cincopa plugin into your website. The instructions will direct you to go to the editing version of your website’s page or post and click on the ‘c’, the sign for the Cincopa gallery, which also gives you immediate access to the sign in or sign up page on the Cincopa site. After signing up for a free basic account, you are taken to a page, where you can choose from a wide array of galleries where you can upload your images, and to some of these galleries you have the option to add music. Before choosing, you can browse through the samples. After choosing your gallery style, you are taken to a page to upload your images and/or music. It is advisable to make the images small in size so as to be able to maximize on space. Still, do not be too mean with the resolution, so that the images will be sharp enough to expose your talent. It is therefore recommended that the resolution is between 40-72dpi after it is converted to a gif by an imaging editor software. Some images are still sharp at a lesser dpi if before converting to a gif file, they were at least 4 inches in size, with at least a resolution of 90dpi. For added safety, a watermark could be added before converting to gif format. Some of the galleries offer the option for the gallery’s visitor to be able to view credits and added information. The list of gallery styles which is primarily for Wordpress users include: - Cover rotation (where images slide across and interchange with each other); After the images are uploaded, the next step is to add credit details such as image creator and description. Upon saving the information, you are given a name for your gallery to insert on the pages of your website, wherever you wish the gallery to be displayed. To ensure everything is in order, open your website in another browser and browse the page, and you should be able to view the gallery in operation undisturbed. There is no need for added coding, and any editing to the album, must be done through your accessing on the Cincopa’s host website. Of course in order to do more, you will have to upgrade your account to premium. This article provides useful information for creating unique and flashy portfolio galleries online.
