Preparing For a Career in Wedding Photography
Posted July 22nd, 2009
If you are interested in staring off a sideline or a career as a wedding photographer, you are well advised to learn a few of the popular strategies that the best wedding photographers employ to ensure they always get the pictures that the newly married couple are going to take delight in for years to come. Since advance preparation is so essential to the success of this wedding photography assignment, it makes sense to begin with a few basic tips on what should be doing even before you load the first film into your camera. Tips To Being A Great Photographer Although there are almost inevitably things that happen at a wedding that no amount of advance preparation can prepare you to deal with, you can take some of the stress out of the job by making doing whatever advance planning is possible. For example, it is a good idea to draw up a list of all the pictures you would like to take and mark the list as you proceed. Start with the placing of the ring and the bridesmaids and work back to the less obvious shots that you are not so likely to remember on the day of the wedding. This way you are almost guaranteed to surprise your customers by not forgetting to include any of the family and close friends in their wedding pictures. Getting A Good Assistant It is also a good idea to enlist in advance the assistance of one of the wedding party to be your master or mistress of ceremonies. In this role they can help you make sure that little Freddie is brought out from under the table and the ice cream is cleaned off his face before he appears in the grand family party shot, or they can make sure uncle Albert is not too worse for drink to pose with the mother of the bride. Checking Out The Location Another aspect of preparation is to check out the location. Although it may sound too obvious to be worth stating, making sure that you know where the wedding is being held is one of the most important things to attend to. You need to arrive in good time to set up your photography equipment and make all the other recommended preparations and there is nothing worse than getting lost on the way to the wedding hall. If you arrive after the ceremony has already begun this could be your last wedding photography job as well as your first so please don’t fail to map out your route. Plan Weddings, Parties and Events!
