Printing Photos on Canvas - A Must Have For a Photographer’s One Man Show

Posted December 1st, 2009

Printing photos on canvas is an effective way of displaying your photographs in exhibits. Canvas used in photo prints is the same materials used by painters. Photographers should know something about canvas prints before taking the plunge. Below are reminders and tips when printing photos on canvas to preserve the integrity of your reproduction.

5 Tips When Printing Photos on Canvas

1. Canvas stocks used for printing are for indoor use only.

2. Canvas prints can either be stretched or museum wrapped. Stretched means 100% of the photos are on the face of the canvas, mounted on frames and with stretcher bars in black or white. It can also be gallery wrapped, which means that the whole reproduction is wrapped all over the frame, including the stretcher bars. Stretcher bars are the sides of the frame.

3. Canvas prints can be ordered in rolls. These are delivered in tubes with the reproduction inside. One advantage of delivering it in rolls is for protection. This may be shipped free of charge with a minimal handling fee.

4. Prints on canvas use premium photo paper on a standard size measuring 11 x 17 to a maximum of 24 x 36 if mounted, or a maximum of 24 x 55 if rolled.

5. Most prints on canvas uses a protective satin coating to make reproductions water and scratch resistance.

Photos are precious collections. Your photos are one of a kind. Remember the tips outlined so you know what to ask from your printers. Always choose a reliable and dependable online printing company who would offer the best quality for your masterpieces.
