Which SDHC Card Size Is Best For 3D Cameras?

Posted February 7th, 2011

All 3D cameras need much higher speeds and storage space than the regular 2d digital camera. Most of the 3D cameras are able to capture full HD high resolution video. This processing power means much higher capabilities from the memory cards you buy.

You can rule out the SD cards, they are too small to handle the file sized needed by a 3D camera. Unless you plan to shoot 5 seconds clips only.

The size of the SDHC cards you will see at the online shops range from 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. This means that though you have a wide rage to pick from and it also means it can be chance for mistakes.

The first levels are the 2GB / 4GB SDHC. Those sizes are NOT recommended for your 3D camera unless you plan to use it only as a 2d camera. These storage Gigabyte will enable you very short 3D clips, a few seconds of full HD movie clips. You certainly didn’t buy the 3D camera for this.

Because the prices of all storage formats get cheaper everyday, buying larger size of SDHC memory cards is not such an expense worth to avoid.

8GB / 16GB - Those SDHC memory cards can serve you well, if you know you will not take the camera to places away from the computer, and will be able to empty it now and then, the 8GB or the 16GB may serve you fine.

If you know you are like James Cameroon and like to take longer shots of 3D clips, or more 3D images at a time, then these SDHC Cards will not be good enough!

Taking 3D clips is fun but its consumes storage space at large quantities.., resulting files are enormous, with two 720p M-JPEG streams plus stereo uncompressed sound amounting to 6MB per second.

32GB SDHC - This size is the most recommended for 3D Cameras. The 32GB can hold thousands of pictures and much longer movie clips. If you go on a trip of a few days, and do not wish to find a blinking message at the screen “Card Full,” then you need to plug a 32GB SDHC to the camera slot.

It may take a while till we will get used to using much bigger storage and higher transfer rates. Make sure you buy a Class 6 or Class 10 SDHC card. Stay away from the Class 4 even if it is cheaper and tempting to save a few bucks.

Make sure you know how to save money with right SDHC memory cards. Read and learn before you waste your money SDHC Cards 3D cameras! What SDHC Fuji 3D Camera is recommended to buy.
