Selling Your Camera

Posted June 24th, 2009

You may have bought a new camera or canon digital printers for yourself a few years ago to pursue photography as your hobby, but now it is just lying around, gathering dust. So the best possible and only solution is to sell your camera and printer. Selling cameras or camera printers, for that matter is not as easy as it sounds. Usually pawnbrokers offer roughly 10 to 20% less than what the amount should be. So you should try and sell your camera and printers online.

First, you need to decide the price you want for your camera. You should look at the digital camera quality. Clean your camera well and see to it that it is functioning smoothly. As a bonus, you can charge up the batteries for the new user. If your camera or printers are not too old and are in decent condition, you can expect anything between 50 to 80% of its actual price. Now, as said before, it is usually not a good idea to sell your camera to a pawnbroker but you can certainly sell it off if the price is right.

Another option is to sell it online. The most popular online auction site is eBay. You can upload the pictures of your camera and printers and list out the specifications and the expected amount. The biggest drawback, however, of selling cameras on eBay is that you might not get the expected amount. Some sites offer free registration of products but if you read the terms and conditions carefully you will realize that they charge 2 to 5% of the amount you receive. Though there are some sites that actually do not demand any brokerage.

So once you have zeroed down on the site, you have to list out the specifications of your camera. Read the manual carefully, if you are not too sure of the specifications as some buyers prefer to know the exact specs. Mention how long the camera has been in your possession and also mention the expected amount. It is also a good idea to list your price a little higher than the expected amount. For example, if you expect your camera to fetch $100, then you should put in the expected price as $120. Usually, while buying products, the buyers prefer to negotiate. So if you get a buyer who is offering $105, you earn $5 more than you expected or maybe you will get the exact amount which you had in mind. So now that you are armed with all the knowledge on how to sell your camera, go right ahead.
