Digital Photography - How to Shoot Moving Objects
Posted October 15th, 2010
Capturing moving objects with a digital camera can be a challenging task for novice photographers. Here are some tips on how to capture moving objects. Take note of the final tip, for it’s the most critical. Tip 1: Plan your focus. As this is a moving object, you’ll be holding on to your camera and trying to get the object in your focus. Your hands may also be moving to try and capture the object as much as possible. If your camera has auto focus, try to let that feature do its job by pressing the button halfway down. As you press the button to take the picture, do that gently to minimize camera shake. Tip 2: Use a digital camera with faster write time. Some cameras take their own sweet time to write the image to its memory after you have taken the shot. This is, of course, bad for taking moving objects. A good camera will be able to take multiple shots, and then write the information to the memory all at one go. You will have more options to choose from later on. Tip 3: Use a camera with faster shutter speed. Shutter speed varies greatly. For taking fast moving objects, be sure to select a faster shutter speed. It takes practice to know which speed to select. For example, after a few practice shots, you will get a better idea of what shutter speed to use for shooting a moving bus, a running dog, etc. Of course, you may be limited by the camera’s low shutter speed, and in this case, you are out of luck!
