The Sigma 150mm Macro Lens Review
Posted September 7th, 2011
The new Sigma 150mm Macro lens for Nikon is the planet’s first ever hi-speed tele-macro lens! It is designed to perform superbly well with 35mm film cameras as well as DSLR cameras. It is highly compact and delicate, and it boasts great aperture telephoto lens in full-size macro capacities. Sigma 150mm macro lenses integrate specialized low-dispersion glass for great quality images at each snap and shot of the camera. It also has an f2.8 aperture which is the largest size by far. This lens also has noise-canceling hi-speed automatic focus and HSM or Hyper Sonic Motor features with manual focus override set at full-time. This latest Sigma product also boasts a floating focusing system that creates superior optical capabilities. It also has an adaptable tripod socket which allows the camera to be safe and secure when attached on the tripod. The f2.8 aperture telephoto macro lens allows the photographer to take shots in full-size while closed up. With this aperture feature, the Sigma 150mm is the perfect lens for DSLRs and film cameras. The latest lens power system mentioned earlier, which are the two special low dispersion glass elements also offer the ultimate solution to the common problem of lateral chromatic aberrations wherein different DSLR and film cameras are at risk for. With this new feature, photos that are somewhat shaky and blurred are avoided and only the best photos are captured each time the camera snaps. Going to the physical attributes of the lens, Sigma 150mm Macro weighs about 2lbs while its dimension is 5.4 x 3.1 x 3.1in. When compared with the Sigma 100mm and 180mm, Sigma 150mm Macro has very balanced weight and size without having to sacrifice its large aperture of f2.8 plus the focal length and working distance. Furthermore, when we compare the prices of a Sigma 150mm macro from that of a Sigma 180mm, I’d say it is fairly reasonable considering the features that it sports. Clients who’ve bought this lens were also astonished at the color rendition as well as its sharpness in every picture it takes. And considering that it is a Macro lens, the silent and fast autofocus features are quite something to celebrate about this lens. Photographers also love the focus limiting feature as well as the tripod ring. They’ve also emphasized about the high quality material of this lens as it is made of mostly metal, which can accommodate rough terrain usage and unforgiving circumstances. These features gave the lens a 5 out of 5 star for customer satisfaction in different ratings and reviews. Overall, the lens can provide superior optical image quality with average autofocus features in a tight package and for a very reasonable cost. The new Sigma 150mm Macro lens is truly one of the best innovations out on the market today. Be sure to buy and test one for a newer and better photography experience.
