Six Simple Steps to Achieve Stunning Portrait Photography

Everybody wishes to possess a camera. It can be a mobile phone camera, digital camera or a traditional film camera. Cameras are undoubtedly great for experimenting in photography. It is worth cherishing the excellent moments that you have with portrait photography. Actually, there are many tips in capturing photography portraits. However, I have listed some steps below to provide you with a head start. There are more tips in taking photography portraits, but the steps listed below will be enough to give you a head start. 1. Theme/Motif It is important to have a motif or theme. It will provide a backbone for your photo shoot. 2. Model You have to select a model that will embody your motif. You can choose a group or solo in relation to your theme or idea. It is important that they feel natural and comfortable. 3. Background It is important to have an appropriate backdrop in accordance to your theme. You can choose simple background or those with a little color. Just avoid plain white or black since it is not enticing. You can find a perfect view whenever working outside the studio. 4. Model Positioning You can place models in an appropriate position or at least a few feet away from the backdrop to lessen the shadows and add depth. If they are great in facial and body projections, you can allow them to pose naturally. 5. Lighting Place a source of light to the side and in front of the model and faintly above the height of your camera. It will lighten up the shadows and make the face clearer and attractive. As much as possible, avoid direct overhead sunlight. 6. Proper camera settings You can use a flash meter to know the proper camera setting. Then set the shutter speed properly and the lens’ aperture.
