Many people view a photographer as merely a person who remains bent over behind a tripod and cheerfully dangles stuffed animals at small children while repeating “Say cheese, say cheese”. Nothing could be further from the truth. A modern photographer will get involved in a vast assortment of tasks and he must be experienced in many different aspects of his field. His photographic assignments could range from those of normal engagement and wedding photos to the aerial pictures taken of your local town or city. The list is varied and widely assorted.

Weddings Photos

The usual assignment which many photographer are asked to perform is that of Wedding photographer. These particular pictures are once in a lifetime images and as such must be done properly the first time. You do not have a second chance to obtain a photo of that all important wedding kiss or the image of the bride and groom slicing their wedding cake in the event that you overlooked loading film into your camera. In many cases photographic companies which specialize in various wedding photos will send two photographers to cover the assignment and take the pictures. They should both be working at the same time on the same photos. This way in the event that one photographer’s picture doesn’t come out properly then there is a backup photo made by the other photographer.

Portraits

Portraits photos are the modern equivalent to the century old oil paintings. In many cases these photos will be enlarged and past down from generation to generation so endurance is important here. The photographer must use durable and long lasting quality supplies. These current portraits can be made with any sort of backgrounds that the model so desires. They can be posed outdoors or at a formal sitting with specific backdrops.

School Photos

These are very similar to Portraits however I feel that many companies do not place the proper importance upon school photos since they are dealing with children. I reason that the parents of these children want the best display they can get. A photographer should take some time and tell the student that their hair is messed up and it would be a better photo if they combed. It is little things like this that make the better school photographer.

Sports photography

Granted anyone can take pictures however to take exceptional photos involving sports one should have some understanding of the game in play. A good sports photographer can anticipate moves and thus be ready for that special shot when it occurs.
