When a camera promise a ultra compactness to it, well it better deliver. In this case Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 promisea to be a stylish, sleek, compact and high intelligent digital camera

Well indeed it is a pocket-size digital camera and as for the other promises, it does live up to the hype. This camera is great for bloggers for a point-and-shoot camera who want to be able to shoot quick clips in HD

The Lumix TZ5 comes with a 9.1-megapixel camera, 10X optical zoom lens, an optical image stabilizer, motion-sensitive ISO control, smart detection of up to 15 faces and the usual automatic exposure adjustment and red-eye fixing

With this baby, you can record in 720p 1280 x 720 HD resolution at 30 frames per second with an HD out component cable port. This means bright motion-image recording even in low-light settings

Combine with the new HD video feature and Lumix ‘legendary’ still photography, you got yourselves here a camcorder-killer

Not to mention the 28mm wide-angle lens that can get almost twice as much panorama compared to typical lens and there’s a Wi-Fi connectivity for which you can connect to any wireless 802.11b/g network and upload images taken with the camera directly to Google’s Picasa Web Albums service

Like I said great for bloggers and travelers on the go. The high-resolution Intelligent LCD also allows the photo preview in bright or dark surroundings with not problems

However I don’t like how much the spare batter cost. It will set you back by around $35. However that makes up by the fact the charging is superfast at under two hours

I reckon you should get it if you need to be mobile and short of luggage space

LEICA 28mm Wide-Angle Lens with 10x Optical Zoom

Now you can fit sweeping landscapes into a single frame with the 28mm wide-angle setting. Pull in subjects from far away to capture even subtle facial expressions with the dynamic 280mm telephoto setting. Ideal for traveling, the DMC-TZ5 Lumix® 9.1-megapixel digital camera combines a wide-ranging LEICA DC Vario-Elmar lens with a handy, compact body. The Extra Optical Zoom function also extends the zoom to as much as 16.9x, giving you even greater telephoto power.*

*In 3-megapixel resolution mode.

Intelligent Auto Mode Helps Get Great Shots in Every Situation

Set the TZ5 to iA mode and let the five Intelligent Auto functions team up to help prevent shooting errors. Intelligent Exposure corrects lighting differences, so images come out just the way you see them; Intelligent Scene Selector chooses the mode that best fits the situation; MEGA Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) helps prevent blurring from hand-shake; Intelligent ISO Control helps prevent motion blur; and Face Detection helps produce clear portraits by optimizing the focus and exposure settings.

Big, Bright 3.0″ LCD with Intelligent LCD Function

With a total of 460,000 dots, the big, bright 3.0″ diagonal LCD makes viewing and shooting easier and more comfortable. The Intelligent LCD adjusts brightness automatically in 10 steps as the ambient light level changes, so images are clear, bright and easy to see day or night, indoors or outdoors.

30 fps High-Definition Motion Images and HD Output

The TZ5 can record motion images with sensational 1280 x 720 HD resolution at 30 frames per second (fps). You can use the zoom, too, and capture some truly dramatic shots. When you’re done shooting for the day, just connect** the camera to an HDTV and you’re ready to view your still shots and motion images in high-definition beauty.

**Optional component cable (DMW-HDC2) required.

Special Travel Functions for the Perfect Trip

The Clipboard allows you to take photos of maps, timetables and other travel info. They are saved in a separate folder of the built-in memory to distinguish them from normal photos. You can print titles and other characters on the photos you shoot with the Title Edit and Stamp. This is great for creating your own postcards from a vacation trip. Input your departure date and destination with the Travel Date Setting. Later, during photo viewing, the camera will indicate on which day of the trip each shot was taken and the location.
